Wick HarbourFest’07
The Wick HarbourFest was a three day celebration (Friday 22 June evening to Sunday 24 June evening) of the cultural, maritime and fishing heritage of the town of Wick. During the HarbourFest, Wick hosted the arrival of the Moray Firth Flotilla which comprised over 30 traditional wooden sailing vessels which assembled at Wick and sailed on Sunday mid-day to Lybster as part of the Highland 2007 Year of Culture celebrations.
Wick Harbour Authority’s plans for the installation of pontoons in the harbour, had an enthusiastic response as the first phase was installed in time for the HarbourFest They have already enhanced the appeal of the harbour to visiting yachts and their phase two 70 berth marina in the inner harbour is keenly awaited.
- Friday 28 July 2006 - Opening of 'The Seven Gates' at Wick Harbour at 7.30PM. Event includes barbecue, licensed bar, screening of 'The Seven Gates' DVD in McCaughey's yard, a visit to the newly refurbished Herring Mart. The Isabella Fortuna will be in the harbour.
- Saturday 5 August 2006 - Music Festival at Wick Riverside. Starts at 2.00PM to late. Licensed bar and food available. All proceeds towards the Community Memorial Garden.
- 17-20 August 2006 - Ice Skating weekend at Old Caithness Glass Factory building. The proceeds for catering is towards the Community Memorial Garden.
- 31 August 2006 - Dinner at Ackergill Tower (£50 per head) in the Summer Palace followed by a Charity Auction in the Opera House. All proceeds towards the Community Memorial Garden.
- 9 September 2006 - Couthy Bothy – an evening of story telling and music at Wick Harbour. It is a Highland Doors Open day event and also part of Scottish Archaeology month.
- 7-10 September 2006 - The Continental Market returns to Market Square, Wick.
- 28/29 September 2006 - Scottish Lime Centre Training Course for professionals and construction personnel at the Bank Row Smoke House.
- 30 September 2006 - Scottish Lime Centre Family Fun Day for all those wishing to no more about the care of their historic buildings.
