Re-invent history
200 years ago Thomas Telford, the world-renowned engineer,
advertised for fishermen and manufacturers to fill his new
harbour development in Caithness. Thousands of workers responded
and by the middle of the 19th century Pulteneytown had become
the Herring Capital of Europe.
Now, with the innovative use of
traditional materials and modern
artworks, Telford's warehouse
buildings and fish-curing yards are
being transformed into
contemporary living and working
spaces for a new wave of residents
and businesses.
