Original Black Stairs exposed during recent renovation works

Repair and reconstruction works to the Black Stairs linking Upper and Lower Pulteneytown has revealed the original early nineteenth century stair to have been a narrow stair on the east side with a landing at the half way stage providing access to the building.

The surviving section of the original stair will remain intact and will again be buried below the repaired full width flights which will re-incorporate the landing providing safer access to Elise Lyall Highland Dancing School.
